Tankavaara goldvillage wiht its national gold museum and tourism service is one of the most well known sights in Lapland.

Over the last 30 years we have made Tankavaara a center of experience. Visitors see and learn the history of world's gold panning. You can also expierence the great feeling of gold fever by yourself. You can pan the gold yourself. Almost all of the goldpanners find gold and can keep them!

We think that we have made the gold legends come true!

Tankavaara Goldvillage is open every day from 9 to 21.

Now we have in program different activities:

- Husky-safaries
- Reindeer safaries
- Visit in reindeer farm
- Visit in Koilliskaira naturparks Visit Centre
- Other programms You can ask.
We transfers from and to airport ! Ask
We are only 20 minits from Saariselkä skicentre, but we are in the nature of wilderness.

Tankavaara 2011:

Tankavaara Goldvillage by night. We have no lightings, so there is possible to see Arctic Lights (Aurora borealis) very fine. And we are open every evenings as long as You will.

 

 

Gold Nugget found!

Olli Pekka Juutila found a nugget from the Tankavaara gold panning area. Nugget was found in the spring of 2009. Exact weight is not known but the value of this nugget varies from 100 to 200 euros. Of course he can keep the nugget like everyone else!

Biggest nugget panned by tourist Mika Saalanko visited Tankavaara. He showed us the Mopo-nugget. Mika was at the age of 11 years old when he found the nugget. Now hes doughter is at the same age.
